Julia’s Rocking Chair
This rocking chair is based on a painting my grandmother did, that I brought with me to college. My grandmother was an artist and is a big part of why I’m where I am today. From a very young age I would go to her house and she would let me play around with her clay, paints, glazes, and pastels. It was a place where I could explore my interests and create with freedom. She died when I was thirteen years old. Soon after we sold that house. I miss her so much as well as the home that she created. This chair is built with the memories of that special place combined with where I am today. It invites the user to be comfortable, as well as make the chair their own doing whatever they would like. It has a supportive structure embedded with petals of cushion. The large rocking chair can be curled up in alone or used to converse comfortably with a friend. I want the user to feel snug in the chair as well as free.
